Get Parker Off-road

Welcome!

Our goal is to raise money to outfit our wounded in action buddies with off-road wheelchairs from Action Trackchair. Our Army medic, Zachary Parker, was left a triple-amputee after stepping on a dismounted IED during a dismounted route clearance mission in the Zhari district of Kandahar, Afghanistan on June 11, 2012. Parker was on patrol to provide aid in case someone struck one of the many dismounted IEDs along the path or were to be shot from the barrage of small-arms fire. While moving the robot and line charges away from a site where a discovered IED was about to blown in place, Parker struck another dismounted IED. Parker lost his left leg above the knee, his right leg at the hip, his left arm at the shoulder, and had his chest ripped open. Parker died multiple times on his road to being stabilized and continues to fight to regain his strength and health. We hope to be able to raise enough money to buy Parker this off-road wheelchair so that he is able to regain his freedom of movement and access to the outdoors when he is able to return home to Louisiana. Separate donations can also be made at http://www.facebook.com/#!/PrayersForZach?fref=ts, to help support Zach's family so that they are able to remain close while he continues his recovery.

We had such a large showing of support, that we are also trying to raise enough money to outfit our beloved squad leader SSG Michael Mccallum, who is now a double amputee, a tracked wheelchair as well.  SSG Mac knelt on an anti-personel mine that was embedded in the roof of a mud building that he was firing from during a firefight in Decemeber of 2011 and lost both his legs above the knee.  SSG Mac has been an inspiration to us all and was able to greet us standing up on his new prosthetic legs when our plane arrived at our base returning from Afghanistan.  However, SSG Mac can only use his prosthetics for short amounts of time due to the pain caused by them since the injury is so recent.  We hope to also give SSG Mac the ability to have as much freedom as possible until he is able to be up and running on his own for good.  Each chair including their accessories and loading equipment is approximately $12,000 each.

All of the additional funds after the chairs are purchased will go to the Prayers for Zach foundation, and anyone not able to donate using PayPal can donate to the Prayers for Zach foundation by simply going to a Chase bank and requesting to donate to Prayers for Zach.  Your support is greatly appreciated and you could not be helping two greater soldiers, greater friends, or greater men.  Thank you for all of your support.

We started this site not realizing the support that was out there, and have raised $18,000 to date thanks to the support of Barstoolsports.com.  Unfortunately we are not internet savvy and could not link the counter below to include the original $18,000.  Once again, if you are not able to donate to PayPal, simply go to a Chase bank and donate to Prayers for Zach or visit the Prayers for Zach webpage to see how you can help Parker on his battle towards recovery.  Thank you again.
